Creon

One organ, two functions exocrine & endocrine

  • The exocrine and endocrine pancreata are linked closely both anatomically and physiologically1
  • Pathological conditions in the exocrine tissue can therefore cause an impairment of the endocrine function and vice versa1

Almost a quarter of diabetic patients maybe suffering with gastrointestinal symptoms. Data suggests 42% of these patients could have underlying PEI2 . Uncontrolled gastrointestinal symptoms in diabetic patients can often be missed or overlooked.2

PEI occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough digestive enzymes or when insufficient amount of enzymes are secreted into the duodenum, resulting in maldigestion, and possibly malabsorption and malnutrition.3
